Full description: This participatory space will focus principally on the struggles challenging Corporate Power with a brief introductory framing on current capitalism and neoliberalism looking at “Europe in its “Peripheries” and at Europe-Global South contexts. The debate will further focus on campaigns such as: The Just Cause-the case vs ENI (Italy); the experience of the garment industry struggles in Serbia; and the Global Campaign - Dismantle Corporate Power: the struggle to regulate TNCs at the UNHRC and of corporate capture of global governance and the multilateral system. Care is costly, most of the value generated though Care work does not appear in the official budgets, financial flows, or economic balances of national households.   But Care-works helps to survive crisis. It is expensive and investment in the care economy does not appear attractive within a capitalist logic since it does not allow accumulation. Investment in it is, however, a must if one looks at it from the viewpoint of citizens’ needs and the obligation to respect human dignity, two essential factors of positive peace. Care means taking responsibility, for nature, for others, for the future.  If NO CARE – NO PEACE.   Our workshop opens up this idea giving time to each other, to small things, to conversations, to creativity, to conviviality. We invite you to be involved in a participatory play including art pictures. Full description: The workshop will present the case of resistance and struggle of the men and women workers of GKN after the mass layoff (442 people) on July 9, 2021, suddenly communicated through whatsapp messages and emails, despite the fact that GKN was a solid and profitable factory. The goal of ownership-an investment fund-is to further maximize profits by relocating the company to a country where labor costs are lower than in Italy. The timely mobilization of the workers and the Florentine and Tuscan social fabric sets in motion a unique experience of social and union struggle capable of creating a community of sharing that includes all the local civil society with national and international cultural and solidarity circuits. Full description: The pandemic emergency first, and the war later, had a very hard impact on the weakest groups, worsening a context already deeply marked by social inequalities. In fact, since 2020, labour incomes have shrunk again, unlike those of the highest brackets: today in our country, the 40 richest billionaires hold the equivalent of the net wealth of the 30% of the poorest and poorest, or 18 million adults. Data that show how poverty and inequality in our country go together, while the rising cost of living only increases the distance between the poorest and richest income classes.   In a world of work characterised by the growth of low value-added jobs, the boom of involuntary part-time work, the spread of undeclared work and precarious contracts, with low wages and the absence of a minimum wage, rising housing costs, the slimming down of municipal social services, Italy remains one of the very few countries to have no income measures after the abolition of the “Citizenship income” by the new Government. Full description: EU border externalization has expanded across Africa, the Middle East, Asia and even Latin America. However, These policies first began to take shape nearly thirty years ago in a region today defined by EUrope as the "Western Balkans" the EU’s dangerous hinterland, and its most proximate security threat. The borders of the Balkans have long been influenced by colonial European powers, dating back to the Congress of Berlin in 1878 which saw the diplomatic division of the peninsula into nation-states. This, in turn, influenced the Congress that partitioned Africa and triggered the scramble for the continent. This historical pattern also extends to border externalization policies, where the region has served as a testing ground for the EU's border externalisation strategies, with lessons and practices subsequently exported to other places. Our workshop will focus on EU border externalisation in the Balkans, looking at the critical role played by non-state actors such as ICMPD, FRONTEX and IOM.  This workshop will be in EN.

Full description: This workshop will look at two aspects of migration: the right to move and the right to stay.  Two paradigmatic cases will be the subject of discussion: The recent Belarusian-Polish border, where migrants struggled to enter the Schengen zone, and a longer-term Balkan route, which is the route for thousands to reach Western countries. Both routes are defined by state and police violence and the autonomy of migration. The main actors are clear, but what about the others? So we try to go through the topics to clarify our understanding and the political dimension of migrants' struggles as a reference point of autonomy: - To look at border movements beyond the hybrid narrative of attack; - To see the point of view that is not only explained by the humanitarian crisis; - Understanding the movement beyond the national propaganda produced by the West and the East; - Avoiding the meta-narrative of contemporary geopolitics; - Recognising the efforts of the movement beyond the accusations and military discourses; - Why is the refugee movement the strongest subjectivity in terms of confrontation with the border regimes, and whose borders are they liberating? - How do they find ways to resist, either territorially or by trying to survive?

Full description: Thirty years of neo-liberal policies, the economic crisis since 2007, the pandemic, and finally the war has radically transformed the labor market. As an exception, precarious work is now the norm. Contractual and wage insecurity make union organization increasingly complicated. That is why it is necessary to rethink the union, the strike, and the forms of struggle in the workplace and in society. By dismantling the superiority of the photographer over the mechanism - by eliminating the point of view, the possibility of expanding the vision beyond what is seen is examined.   The exhibition is a comparison. Satellite images approved by the IDF censor, edited to look through the smoke of the bombing.   In the center of the room a tent, an apparatus, a Dark Chamber, from which the artist develops photographs - captured fragments of the room and the people walking. Full description: Russia’s invasion of Ukraine has further boosted the expansion of fossil gas extraction as gas is now being marketed as the transition fuel for a green new deal. Pipeline and fracking projects formerly opposed with partial success by communities and movements are being revived for the sake of the “energy security” of imperial states. While Algeria, Italy and the Eastern Mediterranean are being turned into transit hubs for the EU’s gas supply, resistance movements in Italy, Argentina or Algeria are confronted with significant challenges such as the increasing securitization of public spaces and state repression. A significant amount of fossil fuel projects worldwide were stopped thanks to popular resistance. Yet anti-fracking movements in Argentina or Algeria and struggles against fossil gas pipelines in Italy or elsewhere are being criminalized, outmaneuvred or oppressed by governments and the industry. The majority of cases of killings or threats to human rights defenders worldwide relate to environmental cases, many of which involved in protests against mining or fossil fuels. Since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, a renewed run on fossil gas extractivism is looming, forcing local and transnational resistance groups to coordinate actions, resistance and strategies of self-defense quickly. Our workshop wants to offer a space to challenge the “security” approach to energy transition, share experiences in relevant struggles as well as tools to resist criminalization to more effectively counter such projects today and in the future and learn from past defeats. Full description: Public viewing of the documentary. Since summer 2021 Poland is facing the so-called “refugee crisis”, on our border with Belarus. Russia and Belarus are the only European countries, who are giving visas to the Middle East and Africa. Naturally, it happened that the new migration path was discovered. It goes through polish forest and swamps. Despite so many deaths, it’s still the safest way to reach Europe. In the documentary we are telling the stories of Middle Eastern refugees, who came to Poland, and instead of getting protection, they were locked up in detention camps. They faced violence, hunger, no medical help, abuse, racism. They were running the hunger strikes, to protest and fight for their rights- basic human rights for respect and safety. Polish detention camps, refugee camps, are literally prisons, where people who commit no crime are kept for months, in horrific conditions.  The documentary and the Q&A will be in EN.

Full description: The systematic violence against people on the move continues unabated while governments increasingly try to filter migration according to economic needs. Migration control policies and the “border management” approach have been turned into ever-present imperatives. As Europe will not change course, resistance movements in the Global South need to take a lead. Restrictive migration control regimes are being spread around the world, international refugee law is being turned into an empty shell and the systematic violence against people on the move at the EU’s external border and beyond continues unabated. Governments weaponize migration for the sake of those in power and the stability of a globalized capitalist system, build on exploitation, social inequalities and oppression. There is no alternative to continue scandalizing this violence, yet imperial powers will not change track. To effectively challenge those border control regimes, resistance movements in Europe need to form inter-sectional alliances while struggles in the Global South need to take a lead.
